Zac Littlewood Wins Men’s World Radial Championship in Kiel

Congratulations to current Australian Radial Champion Zac Littlewood (WA) who won the Men’s Laser Radial World Championship last month in Kiel Germany.

The event saw 96 sailors from 26 countries competing with some challenging conditions.

Zac had to defended his leading position in the overall ranking coming into the final day to hold out Pole Aleksander Arian. Zac was relaxed for the last races of the series. “I am here to learn and win races”, he said. In the second race he realized: “I am the World Champion. That is crazy!”

Fellow WA sailor Caelin Winchcombe had a solid series and a great last day finishing with two bullets and third place in the Championship.

We’re not sure how they do it but Zac is the 15th World Champion since 2010 to come from Fremantle Sailing Club.

There is a nice article on Zac and his very supporting grandmother Anne in the Australian Newspaper by Nick Tabakoff  here.

Also well done Elyse Ainsworth who sails at FSC and South of Perth YC and finished third in the 73 boat 2018 Laser Radial Under 21 Championships just completed in Gdynia Poland. Fellow WA sailor Zoe Thompson from Freshwater Bay YC was 5th in the event.
