South Pacific Laser Masters final results

Day 4 was another hard day for the race officer, the morning westerly came and went with 2 N flag cancellations. With a feeling of here we go again another day 3, a NE wind came from nowhere at 010 deg and the fleet had 2 great races. This was the end of a great Regatta and the decider of the overall winners.
Division winners
Standard: Greg Adams GM, Dan Blight A, Tony Baisden M, Frank Walsh GGM.
Radial: Danny Fuller A, Mark Kennedy GM, Mike Knowsley M, Martin Linsley GGM
4.7: George Meikle
A big thank you to QLA and RQYS. Link to event site here, final results after Day 4 here.

Day 3 Another picture perfect winter’s day in Brisbane. No racing due to lack of wind. QLA held the regatta dinner, great social night with plenty of Laser talk well supported by the attending Masters. QLA President Mike Wilson gave an update on local issues and President Laser NZ Nic Page invited everyone to Auckland for the World Masters next April. Some sailors are looking for a drop on day 4 to improve their results.

Day 2 Seabreeze forecast for Saturday was spot on with wind gusting from 12 to 22 knts from the west, always hard sailing when the winter westerlies arrive. The day was quite warm for this time of the year 28 deg plus. Saturday was a day for heads out of the boat and keep the mast pointing in the upward position; most sailors achieved this. However race 3 was a little disaster for the leading Standards going to the wrong mark and some starting indiscretions.

Day 1 There is a saying in Queensland about the weather “Good one day perfect the next”. Friday 22 July was the first day of the South Pacific Masters “SPLM” and all sailors were treated to a fantastic winter’s day of temp 28 deg in Brisbane on Moreton Bay with host club, Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron “RQYS”.
