2016 Under 21 Worlds Germany

Four Australians competed at the recent Under 21 Worlds at Kiel, Germany, held at the same time as the Rio Olympics. In U21 Standard men Lachlan Gilham (WA) finished 8th U19 and 24th overall in the 144 strong fleet.

2016 4.7 Youth Worlds Germany

A team of 16 Australian sailors (14 boys in a fleet of 256 including 117 U16 and 2 girls in a fleet of 126) competed at the Laser 4.7 Youth World Championships in Kiel in August. Finn O’Dea (WA) was the best placed Australian at 2nd U16 and 20th overall with 5 Australians (one U18 and two U16 from WA and two U16 from Tas) in the boys gold fleet, 4 Australians in the boys silver fleet and both West Australian in the girls gold fleet.

2016 Radial Worlds in Ireland

Congratulations to Zoe Thomson (WA) winning the Radial Youth Girls World Championship, and to Finn Alexander (NSW) 5th overall in the Boys Division.
The Radial Youth and Radial Open Men’s World Champs were sailed at Dun Laoghaire, Dublin in variable conditions.  Australia was well represented.  In the Youth Boys fleet of 229, five of the nine Australians finished in the gold fleet.  In the Youth Girls fleet of 76 the four Australians finished in the top 26.  In the Open Men’s fleet of 42 Richard Maher was the best placed of the four Australians.
